It had a bad slave sensor. Surprised? It would send the 'flash on' signal but never the 'flash off' so I was getting a full dump regardless of the camera flash. He said that when they tested it, it turned the tube on and left it on, damaging some stuff in the strobe head. I'll get a new one when they get some replacement sensors...which leads me to think mine's not the first.

Also, I have little doubt that this is what happened with my first one that I returned to B&H. I had one case where it fired but then just sort of 'glowed' afterwords. I thought it was the modeling light at the time and switched the strobe to 'off'. It never acted right again.
