Use the "L" scale for Nikonos cameras and camera cases where the distance from the center of camera lens to the center of finder is about 5". Use the "H" scale with the larger camera cases where the lens and finder are about 7" apart. Hope this helps, I'd also suggest shooting multiple test rolls to see how it works and how each distance setting on the knob works.
