Read Dave's tutorial for everything you want to know. Or else just start firing away questions right here. Several of us, including Dave and myself have shot this setup.

The learning curve is much easier than with a Nikonos.

I did have a list somewhere of everything stupid I did when I first started using a housed system. I can't remember them all, but the ones off the top of my head:

1) Forgot to change from flat port to dome port. Cool looking tunnel vision type shots.

2) Forgot to change lens back to AF.

3) Didn't realize the dome shade needs to be aligned so that the big part is on the top and bottom. All images had vignetting in two corners.

4) Didn't realize that the control dial lever was depressing the mode button on the camera. Spent the whole dive wondering why my LCD display looked wierd.

The beauty of a housed system is macro is mostly a point focus and shoot. Set lens on F22, strobes on TTL and find your subject. You may choose to vary your f-stop to 16, but that's all I do. I did learn to adjust my strobe position on almost every shot. This leaves what's left of my mental processes focused on finding and composing the shot.

Don't want to post a question? Just e-mail me.
