Using the Ikelite housing, you can connect a strobe using a sync cord so it may be compatible with older strobes (like the SS200 or similar), but since you imply that you are planning to buy a new strobe, I know the DS-50 and DS-125 from Ikelite are compatible with this camera. There are also strobe options from Sea & Sea like the YS-90 DX that would work. You can see all the stuff that I use with my C4040 by clicking here. All of my stuff would work on the 5050 except the housing.
