We have just returned from a tall ship voyage in the Caribbean. During this we went snorkelling a number of times for which we took a number of those disposable cameras designed to take photos underwater of marine life. We have just had the films processed - but they are all a kind of washed out blue and lack contrast!! Actually this is normal - by the laws of light physics red is the first colour filtered out by sea water. However during printing the colours can be corrected and the contrast enhanced. But despite selling underwater cameras Boots, Jessops and Kodak UK do NOT offer this special printing service. In the US Kodak offers a special 'Sea Processing' photo printing service but not in the UK because, it says, that there is no demand. So whilst selling thousands of these cameras, ranging from £10 through to £1,000, all designed to take photos of undewater marine life - not one company can offer a proper printing service for photos taken underwater. What do we do please?
