This just came in from Ikelite: "The AQ/S SubStrobe will have a guide number of 22 like the Sea & Sea YS-30 strobe. Strobe will fire fully because it is not a TTL strobe."

What they mean by that last sentence is that the AQ/S has no circuitry in it to quench the strobe output once it has started. That is, it's an "all or nothing" proposition, and every AQ/S flash will be a full-strength flash. Of course, since you were asking about the guide number of the strobe, I suspect you already knew that, but it's worth clarifying just in case.
