I have been planning on putting together a list for recommended reading, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

OK, recommendations. Norbert Wu has a reasonable book out, although it might be a bit too basic for you if you already have substantial photo experience. "How to Photograph Underwater" is the name of the book.

"The Underwater Photography Handbook" by Kohler & Kohler is another decent text. The pictures in it are wonderful, and the text is pretty good too.

"The Art & Technique of Underwater Photography" by Webster and Bradford is another one worth buying.

Many people seem to be fond of "The Underwater Photographer" by Martin Edge, but honestly I think it's not so hot. It's one of the few I can't recommend, mostly because I don't think it has much to offer any reader, advanced or beginner.

Jim Church's "Essential Guide to Composition" is a must-have, in addition to whatever other books you buy. What a fabulous read.

Good luck,
D
