You can use the pentax cloth on the o-ring, but the cloth will accumulate grease if you do that. They're supposed to be washable, but I have never tried it. Anyway, my personal feeling is that you're best off not using cloth on the o-ring or the flange. The "dip" method on the o-ring works great, and I usually just blow on the flange. If you have compressed air, I'd use that, but the old huff-n-puff method works almost as well.

Finally, rising is a critical step everywhere. Dried salt deposits are your enemy. Rinsing off the salt water is the best way to keep the DEPP doctor away.
