It was about 10-15 meters away, so I turned the strobe off. However, with a 50 ASA film, the biggest aperture available f/3.5 and the low visibility the camera was asking for shutters between 0.5"-1/10... So I shot a few images and hoped to get something.
The images came out very lousy. But the shark is of great interest. We were not sure which shark it is. Originally we identified it as a Mako shark. Then a friend who went diving with Great Whites in Australia and South Africa sent the pics to Andrew Fox and to some other shark experts. Most of them identified it as a Great White.
Whether it is a Mako or Great white, none of them was ever observed in Eilat. So the photos came out really lousy, I am far from being satisfied from them but they are already of real interest to Shark enthusiastics all over the world...
