I mentioned this on the D2D board, but will cross post over here in case it scrolls away on D2D quickly.

First, a great big thanks to Dave for the instructional pages on his site. One of the pins on my sync-cable came loose in transit to Hawaii. Thankfully, it only appears to be the one that sends the quench signal to the strobe during TTL exposure, so the camera knows that the strobe is there and is charged, but I get a full dump output from each exposure (or half if it is set to half, of course). I sat around for most of the first day going over in my mind your instructions on your website for manual exposure, and it worked reasonably well. Saved a lot of shots (processing my first roll from Maui saved a lot as well, told me I was getting too close and burning out the foreground).

Now a question re exposing backgrounds. I was using the "matrix" multi-segment metering of the N6006 to establish an aperture. The bluewater backgrounds look a bit washed out, which becomes more of an issue on shots like the swimming turtle where there is a lot of blue water. Should I be spot-metering? And how much underexposure would readers recommend for richer blues. (On E100VS, exposed at 100 ASA)
