The most likely situation is simply "too much light for that speed film." The camera is going to limit its shutter speeds when it sees a strobe. IIRC the max shutter speed for the N70 is 1/125 sec. If there's lots of light, the N70 will pick 1/125 and then start playing with the aperture in order to get a good balance. As the ambient light increases, it will have to go to smaller and smaller apertures...Eventually, it will max out, and the "HI" sign will come on.

Now, in order to use Ps mode, you have to set the aperture to f/22 or f/32 (whatever is minimum for your lens). If you're in Ps mode and switch to A mode, remember to change aperture to a reasonable value. If you're forgetting to do this, "LOW" is completely believable.

Of course, it seems unlikely that you'd get both "HI" and "LOW" in the same session, so perhaps you'd better give us some more information about your techniques!

Finally, it's always possible that the camera is defective and needs repair or calibration.

Oh, really finally, why use such fast film? You get much finer grain with slower film....

Good luck,
D
