Last night I had the opportunity to practice in a pool at night and I noticed that the aiming/modeling light on my Ikelite 300 wasn't bright enough to allow my SLR to focus properly. It's an older Canon Elan, so perhaps it's just old technology? It did work at very close distances.

What do most of you use on a night dive? Extra light source? Or do you not have problems with your camera focusing?
