With each piece of glass you add, you lose a little something. Even with a high quality diopter, you lose edge to edge sharpness.

You could use a very short flat port, (the lens is only 2" long), but you still have a 1.5' min focus distance, workable, but not great since you are now at 1:6.66

Time for a macro lens. Canon 50mm for $260 does 1:2 at 10" or 100mm EF for $500 does 1:1 at 6".

Another excellent choice is a Tamron 90mm for $430 that does 1:1 at 11.4".
