I get my info from a concert photographer/ reservoir engineer that I work with. He lets me know whats going on the Canon world and lets me drool over his equipment. He's got a 1d and so many "L" lenses that I can't count them all. He's the one who told me about the 1ds.

Nice to get the confirmation of the specs, Dave. Just still too pricey for me to jump in at this point.

Scorpio is right - I'm sure we will be hearing about an equivalent model from Nikon very soon.
