Try the 50 behind the dome. You will definitely lose some of the magnification, although the +4 diopter will get some of that back. It's strange that your 50 won't focus closer than 15", but I guess it's just not a macro lens. Anyway, with a min focus distance that large, you will almost certainly need the diopter.
