I played with one of the 4040s in a store the other day. When set to the highest res jpg, it reported that it could store about 6 images on the 8MB card. That translates to ~100 on a 128MB card. I had compared that to 3-36 exp rolls of film, forgetting about the delete-the-junk factor.

If I get this setup, its first job will be my u/w and topside camera for two weeks in Thailand/Burma. That'll add up to lots of photos. That's why I say the storage device or a laptop is important.

The storage device is sold with a 3.5GB for $300 or with no drive for $200. The latter is obviously the best option for those of us that don't mind buying, formatting and installing one.
