You're right about the manual; not much help. I bought the Magic Lantern guide and it didn't get specific about the use of TTL or manual flash exposure while keeping the camera in aperature mode.

Do you shoot Canon? If so, you may be inerested in my post below containing a link to a friends gallery showing a low light shot with the EOS 1D. (i'm drooling but not about to buy at $5000 a copy). He took it at 1000 ISO equivalency and 1/45 sec. exposure. You can even read the makers mark inside of the mandolin. He has a Image Stabilization lens that dramatically cuts down on hand shake. The CCD is one of the best S/N sensors out there which allows him to shoot gained up to 1000 ISO with almost no detectable noise.
