From my previous thread about focusing in the dark, I also have a few more questions about settings for use on a night dive.

-Do you shoot with the camera in full manual? “A” mode would most likely give you ridiculously long exposure times/wide open aperture settings unless you have some massive dive lights trained on your subject. It seems to make sense to set the camera to manual at something like 1/60 sec and an aperture for the approximate distance/power setting you use.

-I guess this also poses the question: does TTL work at night or must I shoot with the strobe in manual? Since there isn’t much light, I assume that I’ll be using my 50mm (rather than my wide angle) at night. Can I set the camera on manual at 1/60 sec and f/5.6, fill the viewfinder with my subject, and blast away on TTL?

-Do you turn off the modeling/focusing light for the actual shot?

If my questions are too vague and or they don’t make sense, feel free to just answer the question: How do I shoot at night? That’s the essential thing I’m trying to get at, but I was hoping to ask relatively specific questions to make your answers easier. [and to make me seem a little less foolish] ;)
