1) AF delay. I can manually focus a lens in half the time. When I got my N90s, I was in heaven. It could AF faster than I could dream of with my old SLR with my really slow dark teles.

2) Shutter Delay. Misnomer, since we are talking about the time it takes for the camera to take in light and make an image out of it.

It's the damn software, or firmware if you prefer. Probably clunky code. Probably developed by ex-Microsoft code writers.
